NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) July 25, 2013--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that it assigned its 'A' senior debt rating to The Travelers Cos. Inc.'s (NYSE:TRV) proposed $500 million 30-year senior debt issuance. We expect Travelers to use the proceeds from this offering to prefund The Dominion acquisition and for general corporate purposes. The group's financial flexibility is strong and neutral to the rating. We expect Travelers to produce an average moderate financial leverage of about 20% and strong fixed-charge coverage above 10x in 2013-2015. We continue to view capital and earnings as extremely strong, including some benefit from our review of Travelers' economic capital model, which we assess as good.
