Abstract:

Fubon Life Insurance Co. Ltd. could outperform its peers in 2025. This follows the insurer's resilient underwriting performance and robust investment returns in 2024. Fubon Life reported return on average assets of 1.7% in 2024--well above the domestic average for life insurers at 0.8%. Fubon Life's profit margin on new business fell slightly in 2024 but remains adequate. We measure this as value of new business to first-year premium equivalent (FYPE). Strong growth in new regular premiums for participating life insurance policies drove up FYPE 26% in 2024 to New Taiwan Dollar (NT$) 50.3 billion from NT$39.9 billion in 2023.
