Standard&Poor's Ratings Services has assigned its 'AA-' long-term rating to $30.12 million series 2012A general receipts refunding bonds issued by and for the University of Kentucky and affirmed its 'AA-' long-term and underlying ratings (SPURs) for bonds previously issued by the university. At fiscal year-end June 30, 2011, the university had total debt and capitalized leases outstanding of $732 million. The outlook on all the university's rated debt issues is stable. The rating reflects the University of Kentucky's position as the state's premiere higher educational facility and our opinion that it will continue to enjoy stable enrollment and favorable demand characteristics while generating strong financial performance and maintaining prudent debt levels consistent with the rating.
