The rating on Rhode Island Health&Education Facilities Building Corp.'s bonds, issued for Roger Williams General Hospital (RWGH), reflects: * Improving utilization, * Solid operating performance, and * Good liquidity position in an increasingly consolidating and competitive service area. Improvements during fiscals 1996 and 1997 reflect management's initiatives to reverse declines in utilization and retain profitability through the expansion and development of new and existing services coupled with cost-containment efforts. Admissions and outpatient visits increased by 7.4% and 2.8%, respectively, in fiscal 1997. The medical staff increased by 63 physicians in 1997 as a direct result of physician malcontent with consolidation activity in the market.
