The county (population: about 896,344) provides solid waste disposal through the operation of a landfill with an anticipated life of about 25 years. The service area has experienced rapid growth in recent years (32% population growth 1990-2000). Although somewhat concentrated in tourism and related trade and service, employment is deep with Walt Disney World as the largest employer. Services make up 46.3% of county employment and 43% of income.
