Standard&Poor's Ratings Services assigned its 'AAA' long-term rating to Madison Area Technical College (MATC) District, Wis.' series 2015-16A general obligation (GO) promissory notes. We also affirmed our 'AAA' long-term rating on the district's previously rated GO debt. The outlook is stable. The rating reflects our view of the district's: Sizable, diverse, and stable economic base; Strong economic indicators; Stable finances, supported by reserves we regard as very strong; and Moderate overall debt with rapid amortization. The district's unlimited-tax GO pledge secures the series 2015-16A promissory notes. Officials will use note proceeds to finance facility remodeling and improvement costs and equipment acquisition.
