Standard&Poor's Ratings Services bases its rating on KCP&L Greater Missouri Operations Co. (GMO) on the consolidated credit profile of holding company Great Plains Energy Inc. This includes what we consider to be an "excellent" business risk profile and "aggressive" financial risk profile under our criteria. Great Plains is an integrated electric utility holding company that owns vertically integrated electric utilities GMO and Kansas City Power&Light Co. (KCP&L). The excellent business risk profiles for Great Plains, KCP&L, and GMO reflect their status as vertically integrated, fully regulated utilities serving roughly 825,000 customers in eastern Kansas and western Missouri.
