...S&P Global Ratings has assigned its 'A+' rating to Dodge City, Kan.'s series 2018-A general obligation (GO) bonds. At the same time, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'A+' rating on the city's GO debt outstanding. The outlook is stable. S&P Global Ratings also assigned its 'SP-1+' short-term rating to the city's series 2018-1 and series 2018-2 GO temporary notes and affirmed its 'SP-1+' short-term rating on the city's notes outstanding. Dodge City's full-faith-and-credit pledge secures the GO bonds. Certain GO bonds, including the series 2018-A bonds, are also payable from special assessment taxes to be levied on the property benefitting from their respective improvements. Despite the dual pledge, we rate the bonds to the strength of the city's GO pledge, which we view as stronger. S&P Global Ratings also rates Dodge City's 2012-A bonds that have a dual pledge.
