S&P Global Ratings has assigned its 'AA-' rating to Danville, Va.'s 2019 series A and 2019 series B general obligation (GO) public improvement bonds. At the same time, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'AA-' rating on the city's existing GO debt. The outlook is stable. The city of Danville is located in Pittsylvania County in the southwest part of Virginia, just north of the North Carolina state line. The city of Danville, in conjunction with its Industrial Development Authority, has in recent years begun to invest in economic development to increase and diversify its commercial base primarily via strategic redevelopment of the River District.
