Abstract:

The ratings on Connecticut Light & Power Co. (CL&P), a wholly owned subsidiary of Northeast Utilities (NU), are based on the consolidated credit profile of its parent, NU, and its affiliate companies: Western Massachusetts Electric Co., (WMECO), Public Service Co. of New Hampshire (PSNH), Yankee Gas Services Inc., Select Energy Inc., and Northeast Generation Co. CL&P is an electric transmission and distribution utility serving 1.1 million customers in Connecticut. The three regulated electric utilities and Yankee are essentially low-risk transmission and distribution (T&D) operations, with some residual fossil generation exposure. NU also owns Select, a higher-risk and growing energy trading and marketing operation, and a nonregulated generation business, Northeast Generation Co.
