Standard&Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'AA' rating, and stable outlook, on Colorado Springs, Colo.'s sales and use tax revenue debt outstanding. The rating reflects: The city's strong general creditworthiness ('AA' GO debt rating); A strong and diverse sales tax base; The solid legal provisions, including a historical additional bonds test that requires 2x coverage of future maximum annual debt service (MADS); and A strong coverage of future MADS. The city's pledge of its 2% sales and use tax to repay debt service secures the bonds. Colorado Springs, with a steadily growing population of about 377,000, is about 65 miles south of Denver, Colo. along Colorado's Front Range; and it is the county seat of El Paso County. The
