It is aligned with that on its U.S. affiliate, Citibank N.A., which is the main operating entity of the Citi group. The ratings on CKI reflect Standard & Poor's Ratings Services' view that CKI remains a "highly strategic" subsidiary within the Citi group and the group has both the capacity and the willingness to provide significant support to CKI if needed. If we deem that CKI is no longer a highly strategic subsidiary of the Citi group, due perhaps to persistent pressure on its earnings, the ratings on CKI should not be changed considering the bank's '###+' stand-alone credit profile (SACP). If we were to change our assessment of the 'a' group credit profile of the Citi group--in a positive or negative direction--we will likely change our rating on CKI accordingly.
