Abstract:

Standard&Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'AA-' Standard&Poor's underlying rating (SPUR), with a stable outlook, on Albuquerque, N.M.'s refuse removal and disposal revenue bonds. The SPUR reflects the city's: Sound annual debt service coverage by pledged revenues and manageable capital improvement plan; Solid waste department, which faces limited competition for these services; Long-term landfill capacity; and Relatively low rates with a strong collection mechanism. Net revenues of the city's refuse removal and disposal system secure the bonds. By ordinance, the city provides exclusive solid waste collection and disposal services to all households, about 164,000, and most commercial enterprises.
