DALLAS (S&P Global Ratings) Sept. 20, 2024--S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'AA+' long-term rating on the State of New York's general obligation (GO) bonds based on the application of its "Methodology For Rating U.S. Governments," published Sept. 9, 2024. At the same time, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'AA' rating on the state's various appropriation-backed obligations. The outlook is stable. "The rating reflects our opinion of New York's strong credit fundamentals, underpinned by its very proactive financial management, reflected by its commitment to structural balance and very strong reserve levels as well as its strong institutional framework," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Ladunni Okolo.
