LONDON (Standard&Poor's) Jan. 6, 2009--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that it has assessed the Credit Guarantee Scheme (Guarantee Scheme) of The Kingdom of Denmark and concluded that it qualifies for rating substitution treatment. From discussion and correspondence with the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, Standard&Poor's understands that the Kingdom intends to make payments under the Guarantee Scheme within the grace periods of any bank debt issued under the Guarantee Scheme. In our view, the Guarantee is irrevocable and unconditional and it appears that guaranteed debt will not become "unguaranteed" prior to the expiry of the Guarantee Scheme without creditors' consent.
