NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) Aug. 4, 2009--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services today corrected the classification of its ratings on Markel Corp. to unsolicited ratings from solicited ratings. This is only a correction to the database, as the ratings have been unsolicited since 2003. Earlier today, Standard&Poor's revised its outlook on the company to negative (for more information, see "Markel Corp.
