Abstract:

On July 27, 2017, we published our revised national scale rating mapping tables and consequently placed our 'zaAA-/zaA-1' national scale ratings on the Republic of South Africa under criteria observation (UCO). The revisions included a recalibration of our South Africa national scale mapping table. Following our review, we are raising our long- and short-term national scale ratings on South Africa to 'zaAAA/zaA-1+' from 'zaAA-/zaA-1'. Our national scale ratings do not carry outlooks. On Aug. 11, 2017, S&P Global Ratings raised its long- and short-term national scale ratings on the Republic of South Africa to 'zaAAA/zaA-1+' from 'zaAA-/zaA-1' and removed the UCO designation from the ratings. Our global scale issuer and issue credit ratings on South Africa are not affected by
