Abstract:

We forecast Campania, a region located in southern Italy, will post sound budgetary metrics over 2024-2026 and debt to continue trending down. Tight budgetary rules and fiscal consolidation requirements from the central government prompt Italian regions to post sound performances. Additionally, improved regional budgetary practices and cost controls have translated into lower contingent risks for the region and gradually improving services to the population. We therefore affirmed our 'BBB' long term issuer credit rating and maintained the stable outlook. On Nov. 8, 2024, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'BBB' long-term rating on the Italian Region of Campania. The outlook is stable.
