On Feb. 12, 2004, Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its 'BB-' corporate credit and other ratings on Goodyear Tire&Rubber Co. remain on CreditWatch with negative implications where they were placed on Dec. 11, 2003. The CreditWatch placement followed Goodyear's announcement that an ongoing internal investigation had identified possible improper accounting issues in Europe. The investigation has now been expanded to include other overseas operations of the company, which is likely to delay the filing of the company's 10-K due on March 15, 2004. In addition, Goodyear has announced that the SEC has begun a formal investigation of accounting misstatements that resulted in the restatement of four and a half years of financial results.
