Abstract:

On Feb. 22, 2008, Standard&Poor's Ratings Services lowered its ratings on Residential Capital LLC and GMAC LLC. Residential Capital LLC was downgraded to 'B/C' from 'BB+/B'. GMAC LLC was downgraded to 'B+/C' from 'BB+/B'. The outlook for both entities is negative. The ratings actions on Residential Capital LLC are based on the continuing challenges the company faces as it attempts to return to profitability, a still-difficult funding environment, and our perception of the reduced potential for parental support from the ultimate parents, General Motors Corp. (GM; 49% ownership in GMAC LLC, which in turn owns 100% of Residential Capital LLC) and Cerberus Capital Management L.P. (51% ownership in GMAC LLC).
