On Sept. 26, 2008, Standard&Poor's Ratings Services revised the outlook on Duke Energy Corp. to positive from stable. The outlook revision reflects the potential for higher ratings in the next nine to twelve months, provided credit metrics remain buoyant and Duke Energy continues to achieve favorable regulatory outcomes that provide for the timely recovery of its sizable utility construction program. At the same time, we affirmed the ratings on the company and its subsidiaries, including its 'A-' corporate credit rating. Duke Energy has an intermediate financial risk profile that should be sustained over the intermediate term in light of the company's focus on regulated utility operations.
