The Britannia protection and indemnity (P&I) group has undergone an internal reorganization in the wake of Brexit. Luxembourg-based The Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Europe (Britannia Europe or the club) has become the group's primary regulated insurer. The assets and liabilities of The Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Ltd. (Britannia UK), with the exception of the Japan branch, were transferred to Britannia Europe under Part VII of the Financial Services&Markets Act 2000 on Feb. 20, 2021. New European Economic Area business has been written through Britannia Europe since Jan. 1, 2021.
