LONDON (Standard&Poor's CreditWire) March 5, 2001--Standard&Poor's today revised the outlook on Romania's long-term foreign and local currency ratings to positive from stable. At the same time, Standard&Poor's affirmed its ratings on Romania. These are: -- Single-'B'-minus long-term foreign currency issuer credit and senior unsecured ratings. -- Single-B' long-term local currency issuer credit rating. -- 'C' short-term foreign currency issuer credit and debt ratings. -- 'C' short-term local currency issuer credit rating. The outlook revision reflects the new government's commitment to EU-integration and stepped-up reforms, as well as slowly improving economic prospects and a further strengthening of Romania's international liquidity position.
