About This Report

Abstract:

On Feb. 11, 2011, Nokia and Microsoft announced plans to form a broad strategic partnership in smartphones. Although we believe that this partnership could help Nokia to improve the currently weak competitive position of its smartphone portfolio in the medium term, we expect weaker operating margins and further market share losses in the transition period. We are lowering our long-term rating on Nokia to 'A-', affirming our 'A-1' short-term rating, and removing all ratings from CreditWatch negative. The stable outlook reflects our expectation that Nokia will maintain its conservative financial policy and very strong balance sheet during the transition period and that the operating margins of its Devices&Services segment will recover to at least 10% in 2013.
