We now classify National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) as a government-related entity (GRE). We consider that NBAD has a very strong link with the government of Abu Dhabi and a very important role, resulting in very high likelihood of extraordinary government support. Consequently, we now incorporate two notches of extraordinary support into our ratings on NBAD. We are therefore raising our ratings on the bank to 'AA-/A-1+' from 'A+/A-1'. The stable outlook on NBAD reflects our view of limited potential for a change to the ratings over the outlook horizon through 2015.
