Abstract:

NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) Oct. 10, 2005--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that it placed its 'A-/A-2' counterparty credit ratings on Lincoln National Corp. (NYSE:LNC) and its 'AA-' counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. and Lincoln Life and Annuity Co. of New York (collectively referred to as Lincoln Financial) on CreditWatch with positive implications. Standard&Poor's also said that it affirmed its 'AA-' counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on First Penn-Pacific Life Insurance Co. In addition, Standard&Poor's placed its 'AA/A-1+' counterparty credit ratings on Jefferson-Pilot Corp. (NYSE:JP) and its 'AAA' counterparty credit and financial strength ratings on Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Co., Jefferson Pilot Financial Insurance Co., and Jefferson
