S&P Global Ratings issuer credit rating (ICR) on Huron Regional Medical Center (Huron), S.D. is 'A-'. The ICR applies to Huron's general creditworthiness and is not specific to any bond issue. The outlook is stable. The rating reflects our expectation that Huron's balance sheet strength and unrestricted reserves will continue to provide cushion as operating performance moderates from stimulus funds recognized. Fiscal 2021 performance was relatively strong, which contrasted with the operating loss generated in fiscal 2020 due to pull backs in profitable outpatient surgery procedures because of the pandemic. Utilization metrics have begun to show a rebound from pandemic lows, although we recognize the recovery has been drawn out and metrics continue to be soft relative to pre-pandemic levels.
