LONDON -- Standard&Poor's CreditWire 11/25/97 -- Standard&Poor's today assigned its 'A-2' short-term counterparty credit and commercial paper ratings to ForeningsSparbanken AB. ForeningsSparbanken is the name of the new merged bank following the dissolution of Foreningsbanken and the absorption by Sparbanken Sverige (known internationally as Swedbank) of Foreningsbanken's assets and liabilities. The new merged bank will continue to operate internationally under the name Swedbank. Both Sparbanken Sverige and Foreningsbanken had 'A-2' short-term counterpary credit ratings prior to the merger, which was implemented on Nov. 24, 1997. In a related action, Standard&Poor's affirmed the 'A-2' short-term counterparty credit and commercial paper ratings on Spintab AB (known internationally as Swedmortgage).
