Former Edison International (EIX) subsidiary Edison Mission Energy (EME) has entered into a plan sponsor agreement with NRG Energy Inc. (NRG) and other parties in EME's bankruptcy proceeding under which NRG will acquire substantially all of EME's assets. Completion of that transaction and resolving the EME reorganization would remove the risk that EIX's credit profile could suffer from the outcome of the EME bankruptcy. We are placing our 'BBB-' long-term corporate credit rating and unsecured debt rating on EIX on CreditWatch with positive implications. The ratings on EIX utility subsidiary Southern California Edison are unaffected.
