Abstract:

NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) June 13, 2007--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today its ratings and outlook on Reston, Va.-based wireless carrier Sprint Nextel Corp. (BBB/Negative/A-3) are unaffected by news of the company's proposed agreement to acquire affiliate Northern PCS Services LLC for $314.5 million, including the assumption of debt. Given the size of the transaction, there will not be any meaningful impact on leverage. Northern PCS, which provides Sprint PCS services in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, will add about 167,000 wireless customers.
