NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) Oct. 31, 2007--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today its ratings on San Jose, Calif.-based Sanmina-SCI Corp. (B+/Negative/--) are not affected by the company's asset impairment charge of $1.1 billion that was recorded as of its 2007 fiscal year ended Sept. 30. The charge was taken against nonamortizing goodwill and was not taken against any of the company's specific businesses. In line with the sizable charge, our rating already incorporated an expectation for modest proceeds from the potential sale of the PC business and low levels of profitability for the balance of the company's operations in the near term.
