LONDON (Standard&Poor's) Feb. 7, 2013--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings and outlook on the Republic of Ghana (B/Stable/B) remain unaffected following statements that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will continue to pursue a legal challenge to the results of the December 2012 presidential elections, and will continue to boycott parliamentary proceedings. The legal challenge is proceeding slowly, and we believe the court case may take several months or even years to reach a verdict. In our view, our sovereign ratings on Ghana currently remain unaffected by the opposition challenge. Ghana has a long history of democracy and, although sporadic violence can occur, we believe overall political stability is likely to be maintained. On
