Abstract:

NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) July 3, 2014--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that Jana Partners' reported stake of 9.9% in PetSmart Inc.'s common stock has no immediate impact on our 'BB+' corporate credit rating or stable outlook on PetSmart. We assume Jana will engage in discussions with PetSmart in the future for strategic or financial initiatives to enhance shareholder value. The pursuit of such initiatives, if they occur, could cause us to revise our assessment of the company's financial policy and corporate credit rating, particularly should the company add leverage by choice or because of shareholder intervention.
