NEW YORK (S&P Global Ratings) Oct. 24, 2017--S&P Global Ratings said today that its ratings on International Paper Co. (BBB/Stable/A-2) are unaffected by the company's announcement that it will contribute its North American consumer packaging business to Graphic Packaging International Inc. International Paper announced that it will transfer certain assets under its North American consumer packaging segment to Graphic Packaging International for a total consideration of $1.8 billion. This will include $660 million of cash proceeds from a loan that will be assumed by Graphic Packaging and a 20.5% equity ownership stake in a subsidiary of Graphic Packaging, which will hold the combined businesses. International Paper's North American consumer packaging segment generated approximately $1.6 billion of revenue in 2016 and
