About This Report

Abstract:

SAO PAULO (S&P Global Ratings) Nov. 18, 2021--S&P Global Ratings today said that ISAGEN S.A. E.S.P.'s (BB+/Stable/--) acquisition of a portfolio of seven hydro plants is in line with its strategy to expand into renewable energy, and follows other acquisitions the company announced earlier this year. We expect ISAGEN to expand its output through renewable energy, including non-conventional generation (solar and wind). This strategy is consistent with that of its parent, Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. (BBB+/Stable/A-2). On Nov. 12, 2021, ISAGEN announced the acquisition of seven run-of-river hydro plants owned by Latin American Renewable Energy Investment Fund with a total capacity of 149 megawatts, already operational and built between 2010 and 2017. They're located in Colombia's Antioquia province, in which ISAGEN owns other hydro plants, which should enable operating synergies. In our view, ISAGEN should also benefit from the acquired assets' stable cash flows, because...
