NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) July 1, 2014--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings and outlook on General Motors Co. (GM; BB+/Positive/--) are not affected by the announcements yesterday related to a compensation program for ignition switch victims and additional safety recalls affecting more than 8 million vehicles. Kenneth Feinberg announced yesterday that a compensation program for accident victims and their families related to GM's ignition switch defect will accept claims beginning Aug. 1, 2014, through the end of the year. The total amount of the payout is not known at this point, and there is no aggregate cap on the compensation plan, but most payouts seem likely to be made by the middle of 2015. We
