About This Report

Abstract:

MEXICO CITY (S&P Global Ratings) March 10, 2020--Fomento Económico Mexicano S.A.B. de C.V. (FEMSA; global scale: A-/Stable/--; national scale: mxAAA/Stable/mxA-1+) recently announced definitive agreements with Waxie Sanitary Supply (WAXIE; not rated) and North American Corporation (North American; not rated) shareholders to form a new platform within the janitorial/sanitation (jan-san), packaging, and specialized distribution industry in the U.S. The combined entity will bring together two market leaders in this business, while FEMSA will acquire a majority stake and contribute with its proven organization and management of supply chains and its expertise and experience in distribution systems. We believe the investment supports FEMSA's ongoing strategic and geographic expansion into complementary businesses with attractive growth opportunities, and that this wouldn't affect its credit
