...BOSTON (Standard & Poor's) Aug. 4, 2015--Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today that its ratings on Franklin, Tenn.-based acute-care hospital operator Community Health Services Inc. are not affected by the company's announcement that it will spin off 38 acute-care hospitals and its health care consulting business into a new, publicly traded company called Quorum Health Corp. The pending transaction does not meaningfully affect our view of Community's business risk profile. While the company loses some scale as a result of the transaction, we believe that its pro forma footprint of 160 acute-care hospitals in 22 states provides substantial scale and business diversity. This factor only partially offsets our continuing view that Community, like most health care service providers, faces significant reimbursement risk as government and private insurance payers continue to focus on managing health care costs.
