About This Report

Abstract:

NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) April 1, 2016--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio's (PUCO) approval of American Electric Power Co. Inc. (AEP; BBB/Positive/A-2) subsidiary Ohio Power Co.'s electric security plan that includes implementation of a purchased power agreement rider does not affect our issuer credit rating or outlook on the companies. The agreement could be reviewed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) within the next 60 days. If the FERC does not oppose the agreement and it goes into effect, AEP's credit profile could strengthen through reduced exposure to market-based power prices and incremental cash flow stability.
