HONG KONG (Standard&Poor's) Nov. 7, 2003--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services said today that its rating on Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd. (Hon Hai; BBB/Stable/--) would not be affected by the company's recent acquisition of Ambit Microsystems Corp. (Ambit) for stock amounting to Taiwan dollar (NT$) 36.7 billion. Ambit is a leading provider of broadband communication products. This acquisition is expected to extend Hon Hai's reach in the area of networking and communication products. Standard&Poor's said the use of stock for the transaction, Ambit's good margins and net cash position, and the relative size of the acquisition are unlikely to affect Hon Hai's financial profile.
