...Welcome to the eleventh edition of Fitch Ratings' Covered Bonds Surveillance Snapshot. Rating actions took centre stage in 2Q15 as banks saw their Issuer Default Rating (IDR) downgraded following the reduced likelihood of sovereign support for commercial banks under the EU's Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD) See Fitch Takes Rating Actions on European and US Banks on Support Revision and the special report Sovereign Support for European Banks. The impact on covered bonds has however been limited due to the cushion provided by the existing Discontinuity Caps and/or by the IDR uplifts assigned to account for covered bonds' protection in a resolution scenario. 29 covered bond issuers were downgraded but of their related 38 covered bonds programmes, only 12 saw their ratings downgraded, with one placed on Rating Watch Negative (RWN), while the remaining 25 programmes were unaffected.
