Abstract:

We lowered our ratings on the Republic of Portugal to BBB-/Negative/A-3 on March 29, 2011. We are lowering our long- and short-term ratings on Portuguese electricity and gas transmission system operator REN-Redes Energeticas Nacionais (REN) to 'BBB-/A-3'. The negative outlook reflects that on the sovereign. We could lower our ratings on REN again if we downgrade Portugal further or if REN's stand-alone credit profile deteriorates. PARIS (Standard&Poor's) April 1, 2011--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services lowered to 'BBB-/A-3' from 'BBB/A-2' its long-term and short-term corporate credit ratings on REN-Redes Energeticas Nacionais, SGPS, S.A.
