MELBOURNE (S&P Global Ratings) Nov. 3, 2016--S&P Global Ratings today said that Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd.'s (ANZ; AA-/Negative/A-1+) full-year results, announced today, reflect the continuing solid operating performance and balance sheet position of the bank, consistent with our expectations and the current ratings, which remain unchanged. Our outlook on ANZ remains negative, reflecting the negative outlook on the Commonwealth of Australia (AAA/Negative/A-1+), as well as our assessment that pressures are building on the Australian government's supportiveness toward systemically important banks in the country. In addition, we consider that there is a one-in-three chance that economic imbalances will continue to build in Australia--fueled by strong growth in property prices and private sector credit.
