Our outlook on ANZ remains negative, reflecting the negative outlook on the Commonwealth of Australia (###/Negative/A-1+), as well as our assessment that pressures are building on the Australian government's supportiveness toward systemically important banks in the country. In addition, we consider that there is a one-in-three chance that economic imbalances will continue to build in Australia--fueled by strong growth in property prices and private sector credit.
