| Abstract: | TORONTO (Standard&Poor's) May 2, 2008--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services today said it affirmed its 'AA-' long-term issuer credit rating on the County of Simcoe, in the Province of Ontario (AA/Stable/A-1+). The outlook is stable. "The rating on Simcoe reflects the county's low debt burden, robust liquidity, and promising long-term economic prospects," said Standard&Poor's credit analyst Yousaf Siddique. "Constraining the rating are an economy that is less diversified compared with that of peers, and average-but-improving operating performance," Mr. Siddique added. Located in central Ontario, Simcoe has a population of about 264,000. The county is one of the geographically largest in Canada, and has 16 lower-tier municipalities.
