Abstract:NEW YORK (Standard&Poor's) April 30, 2008--Standard&Poor's Ratings Services today assigned its ratings to SLM Student Loan Trust 2008-5's $4.08 billion student loan-backed notes (see list). The ratings on the class A notes reflect the 3.79% overcollateralization, the 3.00% subordination of the class B notes, the fully funded 0.25% reserve account, and the excess spread. The rating assigned to the class B notes reflects the 3.79% overcollateralization, the 0.25% reserve account, and the excess spread. The reserve account has a floor of 0.10% of the initial collateral balance to provide additional credit support as the pool amortizes. In addition, the ratings are supported by a sound legal structure, federal reinsurance of at least 97% of the loan
