Abstract:Although the resignation is due to personal animosities between him and Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the departure of Sikorski, one the brightest spots in an otherwise lacklustre government, comes as Poland and the Czech Republic start formal negotiations over US use of facilities and territory for its missile defence (MD) project. The negotiations are set to become the biggest test of Washington's strategic links with Central Europe since NATO admitted former communist states as full members during the 1990s.
