| Brief Excerpt: | ...Global enzyme demand is forecast to adv ance 7.6 percent per year from 2006 to $6.0 billion in 2011, driven by continued robust growth in pharmaceutical enzyme demand, double-digit gains in demand for biocatalysts, and the rapid expansion of bioethanol production from grains. In terms of enzyme types, growth will generally be strong across the board, with carbohydrases achieving the greatest gains 8.6 percent annually between 2006 and 2011 on t he strength of their use in pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and ethanol production. Enzymes used in industrial applicat ions are expected to continue to account for the majority of over all demand through 2011, with $3.3 billion or 55 percent, boosted by robust grow th in the ethanol production, food and beverage, animal feed, and pulp and paper markets. Specialty enzymes, however , are projected to regi ster faster growth through 2011, rising 8.6 percent per annum, boosted by strong gains in pharmaceutical enzymes...
