...New Zealand is a democratic parliamentary monarchy. The constitution is largely unwritten and is a mix of statutes and constitutional convention, complemented by a Bill of Rights. The unicameral legislative chamber, the House of Representatives, usually has 120 members, but the current parliament has 121. Members are elected by universal suffrage for a three-year term, using the mixed-member proportional system, with seven seats currently reserved for indigenous Maori. Queen Elizabeth II is represented by the governor-general, Anand Satyanand. A Labour-led government has been in power since 1999. The most recent general election was in September 2005. The next election is due by September 2008....
