Great Plains Energy is a public utility holding company which provides electricity to its customers in the US Midwest. It is also involved in electricity procurement activities for commercial, institutional, and government customers. The company recorded revenues of $2,675.3 million during the fiscal year ended December 2006, an increase of 2.7% over 2005. Its revenues recorded a CAGR of 10% during 2002-2006. Great Plains Energy subsidiary Kansas City Power and Light (KCP&L) owns over 1,700 miles of electricity transmission lines, approximately 9,000 miles of overhead distribution lines, and over 3,800 miles of underground distribution lines in Missouri and Kansas.
