| Brief Excerpt: | ... - Credit Suisse - Analyst-- of our conference. I am very pleased to have with us this morning the management of CIT. The last six or eight months have been an eventful time for CIT, as well as many other financial services companies, as a result of the significant disruptions in the financial markets that began in August. The challenges are challenges that CIT has faced in the past and the Company quickly developed plans to broaden its access to secured funding, to preserve its ability to serve its customers and grow its key businesses at the lowest possible cost. The Company also during that timeframe put its mortgage portfolio into -- set it aside and somewhat in liquidating form, which we believe over time should minimize the impact, financial impact from that business. The combination of those two efforts coupled with an ongoing restructuring of the balance sheet and strong credit quality in the core commercial finance businesses should allow CIT to return to stronger returns and... |
